925 Productions has released the teaser trailer for their latest short documentary, Mr Yeats and the Beastly Coins.
The film is about the battle to create a new country, Ireland – and the forces deciding what that country is. With WB Yeats audiences get to explore a fresh perspective and to see the connection between power and art.
Ann Marie Hourihane, Vikings star Moe Dunford, and Donal Courtney (Cutting Grass) provide voice-over to the documentary, which uses archive footage and documents to tell the fascinating story of one of Ireland’s finest poets’ involvement with the coinage of the new Irish Free State.
The film was made as part of the Irish Film Board’s After ’16 short film program, a once-off initiative with a view to commemorating, celebrating and ruminating on 1916 and how the events of Easter Sunday and beyond forged the landscape of the century that followed.
Mr Yeats and the Beastly Coins is directed by Laura McNicholas and Ann Marie Hourihane. The pair also act as producers for 925 Productions, who gave us the excellent scripted shorts Leave and Cutting Grass. The documentary was edited by Gareth Nolan, with Hugh Rodgers composing original music.
Mr Yeats and the Beastly Coins will receive its World Premiere at the Audi Dublin International Film Festival on Sunday, February 21st, as part of the Irish Film Board’s After ’16 showcase.
