Good news on the Irish short film front with word that the team that brought us the outstanding short film Today, winner of best short drama at the 27th Galway Film Fleadh, are back with a new short, A Break in the Clouds.
Written, directed, and produced by Tristan Heanue in follow-up to his aforementioned directorial debut, A Break in the Clouds is a contemporary drama about a young couple struggling to adjust to life following the birth of their first child.
The film is co-produced by Paddy Slattery, Heanue’s long-term collaborator, whose producing credits include the award-winning shorts Today and Skunky Dog.
Heanue will star alongside some of Ireland’s brightest actors, including Gemma-Leah Devereux (Get Up & Go, Stitches), Marie Ruane (Foxes, Striking Out), and Linda Bhreathnach (Adulting, Ros na Rún). The film will be shot on the Arri Alexa Mini with Narayan Van Maele (Gridlock, Gutland) handling the cinematography, while editing duties will be undertaken by John Desay (Ladies of Science) and sound design by Nikki Moss (Patrick’s Day).
A two-day shoot will commence on May 6th in Renvyle, Co. Galway. Once complete, A Break in the Clouds aims to hit the film festival circuit, targeting some of the major film festivals at home and abroad.
