Principal photography is set to begin on a short film titled Today, a contemporary drama set in Connemara, Co. Galway. This production will mark the directorial debut of Galway native, writer/producer Tristan Heanue (In This Place), with shooting scheduled for the second weekend of March.

Today is a hard hitting drama about a man who wakes up one morning in his car, disorientated, with no recollection of how he ended up parked in the middle of nowhere. The harsh reality soon comes flooding back once he gathers his thoughts.

Starring one of Ireland’s most exciting young actors, John Connors (Love/Hate, King of the Travellers), who will take on the role of Peter, a young man lost, both physically and emotionally; and he will star alongside Lalor Roddy (Grabbers, Cherrybomb), who will take on the role of Desmond, a curious yet compassionate farmer.

Today will be produced by award winning producer, Paddy Slattery, for Stand Mantra Productions, with Eimear Ennis Graham (Bingham Ray Nominee at the 25th Galway Film Fleadh) providing cinematography. This short film will be shot on the Sony F5, provided by Film Equipment Hire Ireland, while composing duties will go to A Place of Level Earth, and editing will be undertaken by Gerard Walsh (A Day Like Today).

After the film is shot and post-produced, the makers of Today aim to hit the film festival circuit, targeting some of the major film festivals at home and abroad.
