#IrishFilm: Now Funding Marcus Maher’s The Siege of Bóthar Anam
Now funding on Indiegogo is The Siege of Bóthar Anam, a short drama, directed by Marcus Maher. Set on a fictional street in Ireland, the story focuses on a small community on the edge of society must unite and fight back against NAMA and the repossession of their home.
The cast includes Steve Gunn (Fair City, Ripper Street) as the Chief Bailiff, Seamus O’Rourke (Locus of Control, My Aunt Bee) as John Lyons, and John MacKenna (Corner Boys, Between Your Love and Mine: A Requiem) as John McDonough.
It is important to us that the story of housing crisis is not solely told by the facts and statistics of the news media. This is a human crisis that is an integral part of modern Ireland’s identity and it can not remain underrepresented in the arts. However, due to the political nature of our film we are exempt from many traditional funding schemes and are unable to fund this entirely by ourselves. Therefore going directly to the people through Indiegogo made perfect sense.
