Dublin-based Reckoner Productions have announced their latest ambitious project; a children’s fantasy film called The Emerald Stone, from writer/director Alan Dunne, producer Eamonn Tutty¬†and co-producer Zeb Moore.
The Emerald Stone tells the story of Sarah and her brother Cian who are shrunk after encountering a strange emerald stone at their grandmother’s house. This leads them on a journey in which they must work together to return back to normal size, but being only two inches tall sees dangers and obstacles block their way.
The short stars Mary Murray (Love/Hate, The Magdalene Sisters), Zeb Moore (Mrs. Browns Boys D’Movie, The Quiet Hour), Patrick Murphy (Portrait of a Zombie, Love/Hate), Helen Roche, and introduces Saoirse Hayden and Luke O’Donoghue.
The Emerald Stone is set to be a visual-effects treat, an Irish short children’s film for entry to Danny Elfman’s competition Rabbit & Rogue: Frolic in conjunction with The L.A Film Festival 2017.
The film is currently crowdfunding on IndieGoGo, with donations to the campaign helping to cover production costs, and also post production, to ensure the best possible film and push it over the line to completion. Reckoner has included some incentives for those contributing with more to be updated as the campaign moves along.
More information can be found on the competition here, where you can also listen to the track that they have chosen named ‘Frolic’. Follow the film’s progess on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube.
