Currently in the final stages of post-production is new Irish independent short film Break, from writer/director Brian Moran.

Break tells the story of a week in the life of Derek, a lonely and despondent office worker and the transformative, jarring effect that Jenny, a waitress who he meets on his daily coffee break, has on him. This is the story of modern life, isolation, alienation, and the power, subtlety and fragility of human connectedness. It is a story of hope and despair and the fine line that separates the two.

Break stars IFTA nominated Darren Healy (Savage, The Guard, Once) and Aoife Nic Ardghail (An Klondike, Rasai na Gaillimhe) in the lead roles.

It is the first short drama from Moran, and is produced by Trisha Flood (Cardboard Gangsters, Keys to the City). Break is shot by DoP Saskia Vermeulen and edited by Gareth Nolan (Ripper Street, Perrier’s Bounty).

Break hits the festival circuit this summer. For more information follow the film on Facebook and Twitter.
