The Galway Film Fleadh, the premier platform for New Irish Cinema (as they say themselves), is now accepting short film submissions for the 2015 edition of the festival, which will run from 7th – 12th¬†July.
2014 was a massive year for Galwa and the Fleadh, with the Fleadh named¬†one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World, and the city being named as a UNESCO City of Film.¬† As an Academy Award qualifying festival, winning either the Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Drama or the James Horgan Award for Best Animated Short can put a film on a path to greater global exposure and potentially even a nomination at the Oscars next year.
The 2015 Film Fleadh will be the festival‚Äôs 27th¬†edition, with the festival bringing innovative World Cinema to Ireland, propelling Irish filmmakers onto an international stage, and boasting an impressive industry market ‚Äì the only one of its kind in Ireland ‚Äì as well as many other developmental and networking events, collectively termed the Galway Film Fair.
Early bird feature submissions are now closed, but regular submissions remain open until March 27th. Submissions for the short film programme cost ‚Ç¨20.
