Sophie at the Races selected as Irish entry for One Country One Film Festival

Irish short film Sophie at the Races has been selected as Ireland’s entry for the One Country One Film Festival, which takes place in the small village of Apchat in the heart of France, Friday July 24th to Sunday 26th.

As the name suggests the festival, which promotes the cultural exchange between countries, selects one film to represent each country, with the 2015 competition featuring 38 countries.

Sophie at the Races is a family drama from writer/director Alan Friel, starring Siobhan O’Kelly, Michael Power, and Susie Power.

The film follows Sophie as she journeys to the races on a promise from her troubled mother Harriette that she will meet her father for the first time.

The film was produced by Fiona Kinsella for Jumper Productions, with financing through the Irish Film Board Signatures scheme.
