Irish Abroad: American odyssey continues for Stephen Ryan’s Rip It Up & Start Again

Having featured at last month’s Palm Springs International ShortFest, Stephen Ryan’s Rip It Up & Start Again continues its American odyssey in August.

The film will play in competition at the Oscar qualifying FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF), which takes place August 4th to 9th.

The RIIFF provides the kind of intimate festival experience that will change your life. Don’t miss it.
At the end of August¬†Rip It Up & Start Again will screen at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 28th to 30th. The Sidewalk Film Festival was listed by USA TODAY in 2013 as “One of the Top 10 Places for a Fabulous Film Festival‚Äù and one of ‚ÄòThe 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World 2014‚Äô by MovieMaker.

The film sees a postman’s dog watch as he strains over writing a letter, which he eventually tries to deliver. But to reach the object of his desire he must first get past her pint-sized guard dog, which is easier said than done.
I’m thrilled for all involved. Getting an independent short made can be a struggle; this will deservedly showcase the emerging talents of a small cast and crew to a massive audience.
Rip It Up & Start Again stars Derek Tapley and was shot in Dublin by newcomer DoP Penny Merelle-Gray. It was edited by Colin Campbell with music composed by Kevin Whyms and location/post sound & sound mix by Arron Faye. EMC Post completed the on-line edit.

Rip It Up & Start Again screens at the Rhode Island International Film Festival Wednesday August 5th at 6.30 pm, and at the Sidewalk Film Festival on Saturday August 29th at 12.30 pm.
