Kathleen Was Here

Eva Birthistle’s debut short, Kathleen Was Here, to premiere at 31st Galway Film Fleadh

Treasure Entertainment’s latest short film, Kathleen Was Here, written and directed by acclaimed Irish actor Eva Birthistle, will have its world premiere tomorrow at the 31st Galway Film Fleadh.

Kathleen is 18 and alone. The system has no place for her now. What does the future hold when the past is all you’ve got? This visually arresting and emotionally taught tale depicts the ongoing problems surrounding young adults who age out of care and their struggle to ‘fit in’.

Kathleen Was Here marks the directorial debut for two-time IFTA-award-winning actor Eva Birthistle (The Last KingdomThe Delinquent Season) and features Hazel Doupe (Float Like a Butterfly) in the title role. The film also stars Toni O’Rourke (Calm With HorsesCardboard Gangsters), Joanne Crawford (Rose Plays Julie), and Molly McCann (Rosie).

The film is produced by Claire McCaughley for Treasure Entertainment, with Burschi Wojnar as Director of Photography, editing by Gavin Buckley, and original music by Amelia Warner.

Kathleen Was Here premieres as part of the Irish Talent: New Shorts One: Fiction programme, which is available to view online from 5 pm on Wednesday, July 8th. Tickets are now available via the Galway Film Fleadh website. https://online.galwayfilmfleadh.com/film/irish-talent-new-shorts-one-fiction/
