Irish Abroad: Cutting Grass wins at BeFilm The Underground Film Festival

Last night the BeFilm The Underground Film Festival came to a close in New York city with an awards ceremony. At the awards John Kennedy and Ruairi O‚ÄôBrien’s Irish short film Cutting Grass took home the award for Best Narrative.

Cutting Grass tells the story of a young inner-city boy, Donal, who is trying his hand at cutting grass for pocket money. His luck changes when he meets Gerry…

The film stars John Hannah, Donal Courtney, Karl Rice, and Scott Graham. The film is produced by Laura McNicholas for 925 Productions, with funding through the Irish Film Board Signatures scheme.

2015 saw the twelfth edition of the BeFilm The Underground Film Festival. The festival focuses only on short films, with over 800 submissions this year from around the world.

Next up for Cutting Grass is a trip to the city of Tripoli, northern Lebanon for the Tripoli Film Festival starting April 30th.
