Writer/director Johnny Kelly has released online his brilliantly inventive and hilariously funny 6 minutes short, Fern.

Fern is a wonky black comedy about a woman and a plant who fall in love. It stars a puppeteered plant (and also Bafta-winning actress Monica Dolan).

The film was commissioned by Channel 4 and produced by
Greet Kallikorm for Nexus Studios.

The film has played a number of international film festivals, and most recently won Best Comedy Short at Rhode Island Film Festival last week.

Kelly is an Irish director living in London. His work spans live action, stop frame animation, CGI and lots between.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, his short films (including Procrastination) have been screened on BBC, ARTE, PBS and been programmed and awarded at film festivals around the world including Palm Springs, Clermont-Ferrand and Edinburgh.

Kelly is based at Oscar-nominated Nexus Studios, in London. The stop motion advertisment he directed for Chipotle, ’Back to the Start’, won the Film Grand Prix at the Cannes Advertising Festival.
