Irish animation company And Maps and Plans has released their multi-award-winning short An Island online for free. 

An Island tells the story of a solitary man who sets out to conquer an isolated island.

The film is written and directed by Rory Byrne with Ciarán Deeney of And Maps and Plans producing the short. It was made with the support of Screen Ireland’s Frameworks scheme. Byrne previously wrote the script for Coda which picked up a host of international awards.

Music is by Sean Byrne, with Sound Design by David Kamp, Sound Mix by Dean Jones, Backgrounds by Ronan McMeel and Rory Byrne, Animation by Rory Byrne, Anita Gaughan, and Alan Holly, and Colouring by Aoife Balfe and Aisling Conroy.

An Island is no stranger to awards itself having won: Best Fiction Prize at Cartón, Best Narrative Short at Animation Block Party, Grand Prix & Best Music Award at Neum Animated Film Festival, Best 2D Film & Best Irish Film at the Dublin Animation Film Festival, and the James Horgan Award for Best Animation at the Galway Film Fleadh.
